Students will be able to read the important words and expressions and use them correctly. 2. Students will learn the basic knowledge of different food. 3. Help students to have a balanced diet. Warming Up is to tell students how different kinds of food are grouped. This is important as it enables us to talk about the value of particular foods to our health. We want students to appreciate what a balanced diet is. Too much fatty food will mean they store extra energy in their bodies. Too much body-building food may cause problems for digestion and lead to illness unless enough fibre food is eaten to aid digestion. The teacher can have a free talk with students, let them work in pairs to read through the chart and discuss the questions. The Ss are very familiar and interested in many kinds of food, as well as the good habits of keeping fit, but they don’t know how to express them in English. Therefore, in this section, teachers should help Ss be able to express their ideas in English as well as let them realize the importance of developing the healthy diet. Enable Ss to talk about healthy food and health diet. Guide students to classify different kinds of food. Let Ss learn about the knowledge and cultures about diet and help them to develop a balanced diet.
