Unit 5 If you go to the party, you’ll have a great time !

Teaching goals:

Step 1 Leading in

First let students listen a English song“If you are happy ”to raise their interests. Next use two questions to lead in.

1〉 If you are happy, what will you do?

If I am happy, I will… (smile, sing, dance…)

2﹚Do you want to join the party? Why？

Give the students 5 minutes to discuss the questions with their partner, and get some answers.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Finish 1a on page 34.

1). Help the students to understand some words and phrases in 1a.

2). Have the students match the statements with responses, and check the answers.

3). Ask students to read the statements and responses. Girls read A, Boys read B.

4). Explain: do, let in

2. Learn “If structure”

1). Let students play a guessing game, use the game to lead “If structure”.

2).Help students to understand “If structure”.

Step3 Practice

Let students do some practice.

1) Use the correct verb to fill the blanks. Give the students five minutes to do them, and check the answers.

2) Make some sentences. Look at the pictures, and make some sentences. First, ask students to write down the sentences on a piece of paper. Then, ask students look at the pictures to say the sentences.

Step4 Summary

1. Ask Ss to say the statements and responses in 1a.

2. Ask Ss to work in small groups. Ask each group to write down as many sentences. Like this “If you go to the party, you’ll have a great time!”

3. Ask some groups to share their sentences with the class.

Step5 Homework

Write five sentences with if structure
